I live a couple blocks away from Mexican Diner and reviews are good, so last night I walked over to order takeout. Fish tacos, chips w guacamole and salsa, beans and rice. Everything was delicious and perfectly packaged. I stood outside to wait for my order, because it was busy inside the restaurant and I would have been in the way. Their delivery guys were busy, hence the secure packaging. The cops came in for takeout too - always a good sign.
The fish tacos were wonderful. 3 tacos, filled with nice sized pieces of fish, chopped onions, greens, and strips of avocado. The meal was served with little containers of green and red sauce. The red was too "hot" for me, but will be enjoyed by others. I loved the green sauce! The tacos were delicious and very satisfying. I was very happy to discover the chips are freshly made! The guacamole was superb! A good strong garlic favor is present in every bite, I like that. Their guacamole is thick, always my preference. The salsa also is a perfect consistency, but there is a sweetness to it, that was unexpected. I am sure folks would probably enjoy this, but I prefer this lovely sauce without a hint of sweetness. Both containers that held the sauces were large, another pleasant surprise. I will go back! -

Really noce place, good service, ample portions at a fair price. An old friend lives nesr here and I had always wanted to try it but never had the opportunity until my family was in town.
The chips were flour--not my fave, bit very good example of same. The salsa served with them was chunky, fresh, and layered with flavors--not something w have found anywhere in our home town of Portland. My only complaint with it was that they tagged it with some sugar--nothing you'd notice on the first several bites, but it creeps up and is a touch annoying for my palate. Probably not something that would bother or be noticed by many.
We had an avocado salad, vegetable enchiladas, cheese enchiladas and fish tacos. The salad was fresh and, by design, the dressing came on the side. This was a nice touch, since many places overdress their greens.
A bit of a surprise, and more traditional than you would get in America. By this, I mean that the cheese inside was not melted mozzarella, but chunks of Cotija. It was mild and pleasant, although the green sauce was a little spicy for the kids.
The three fish tacos were generous, filled with quite a lot of tilapia, and came garnished with some radish and lime. They were not the best fish tacos, but they were fresh and pleasant.
The kids each got an horchata, and both really liked it. My older one is a bit of an horchata connoisseur and he gave it top ratings.
My kids give this place 3.5 stars, and on food alone, I somewhat agree with them. I've rounded up because the value proposition is so good, and the workers clearly care.
I suspect that meat eaters might bump this even higher to 4.25. -

So Yummy!
Came here on a Sunday afternoon with a friend. Got seated right away and was served a large basket of complimentary salsa and chips. But to my surprise the waiter didn't bring us water or anything.
Sat for another 10 mins and we placed our order. Still no water.. after munching on the chips and salsa I got super thirsty. So I ordered a grape soda and asked for water. FINALLY WATER to the rescue!
Food we ordered: Chicken mole poblano, al pastor tacos, chicken tacos & grilled bulb onions!
Chicken mole poblano: chicken was super soft. Fall off the bone kind of soft. Sauce was tasty but on the sweet side. Overall not too bad though.
Comes with tortilla, rice and beans.
Tacos: both al pastor and chicken were good. I drenched mine with their green sauce.
Grilled bulb onions. I have a thing for bulb onions. I don't know why I love them so much. This place made it good but a little too much lime. It was a bit too sour.
Overall very good except customer service could improved a bit. There was only one waiter so poor guy was so busy. -

Love little hole in the wall places! Girlfriend and I decided to come by last night. The place was empty inside but the kitchen was crazy! This place is clearly popular for take out since they were flying out throughout the night. We both saw this as a good sign.
We started off with some guacamole and ordered the steak quesadillas as well as some fish tacos. Everything was delicious and fresh. Service was great too, very friendly and attentive throughout the meal.
Prices are very reasonable as well. Everything came out to a little over $40 without tip. Will definitely be ordering from here again.
